Senior Resources of Guilford is pleased to announce that the Lincoln Financial Foundation has awarded a $10,000.00 grant to the Mobile Meals Program. This funding will underwrite the costs associated with providing Mobile Meals for seven Greensboro seniors for one year and one senior for 8 months thereby allowing us to remove eight individuals from the Mobile Meals waiting list. There are presently 81 eligible individuals on the Mobile Meals waiting list for service. The meals provided through the Mobile Meals program are prepared by an independent caterer and certified by a registered dietician to contain 1/3 of the recommended daily allowance of nutrients and calories for older adults. Mobile Meals are delivered Monday through Friday by a cadre of over 1200 volunteers who not only deliver vitally needed nutritional support, but a friendly visit and wellness check. Last year 627 Guilford County seniors were served a total of 90,376 meals through this program.
The financial contributions of corporate partners such as the Lincoln Financial Foundation are critical to the agency’s ongoing efforts to meet the demand for service and the nutritional needs of Guilford County’s growing older adult population.
